Western Expansion
Question:
Who were Louis and Clark?
Answer:
The Louisiana Purchase opened a great deal of new land in the west. Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd US President, encouraged two men, Louis and Clark, to explore the new territory provided by the Louisiana Purchase. Louis and Clark left from St Louis and traveled toward the Pacific Ocean. They reported their findings back to Thomas Jefferson and, through various newspapers, to the American people.
