Ask Mr. Donn
What was a Patrician?
There were 3 main classes in ancient Rome - patricians, plebians, and slaves. Patricians were at the top of the social pyramid. They were the wealthy landowners, the aristocrats. Both men and women from old Roman families were patricians. Under the empire, the emperor could award patrician status to a plebian, but that happened only occasionally.
