The Roaring 20s

Due to many Americans having disposable income and a willingness to spend it on entertainment, movies became very popular. Starting out as silent movies (played with a local live musical accompaniment), movies rapidly evolved. With the addition of sound and then voice movies became an extremely popular form of entertainment. Movies were a vehicle to spread the latest music, dances and fashion trends, and became a way to unify and tie Americans together.  The Roaring 20s
