Why is Alexander the Great important to Greek culture?

While conquering most of the Persian Empire, Alexander spread Greek culture. He had his soldiers marry into the local cultures. He started cities and spread Greek ideas of philosophy, architecture, art, theatre, math, science, myths and literature, to name a few. Thanks to Alexander, these Greek ideas are still known, used, and enjoyed today. We call these ideas collectively as "gifts from the Greeks". Alexander the Great
