Ask Mr. Donn
What were Thermopylae, Marathon, Salamis and Plataea?
These are the four battles that decided the Persian Greek wars. The battle of Thermopylae was the basis of the Hollywood movie, “The 300”, when King Leonidas of Sparta led his 300 men against the army of Xerxes. At Marathon, the Greek army defeated the Persian army using a technique call the Phalanx. At Salamis, the navy from Athens destroyed the Persian navy. Plataea is the last battle where the Greeks led by Sparta defeated the army of the Persians. Persian Wars
