Ask Mr. Donn
What were the Greek Olympics?
A series of athletic contests in which each city-state would send its best athletes to compete. These events were running, weight lifting (lifting stones), discus, javelin and others. Two strange facts about these events. Since the men competed mostly nude no women were allowed. Second, anyone traveling to compete in the Olympics was never bothered on the road. Even wars would sometimes stop for the Olympics. Ancient Greek Olympics
