What did Amendment 20 change?
Amendment 20 has three main points.
- Point 1: The president's term will begin on Jan 20 following the election and newly elected congressmen will take over on the 3rd of January following the election.
- Point 2: Congress shall convene on Jan 3rd of each year.
- Point 3: It defines the succession following the death of a president who is elected, but has not yet taken office.
