Today, we have the internet, the telephone, satellite communication – nearly instant ways to communicate with each other over great distances. But in Colonial times, the fastest way for news to travel between the American colonies and Europe took about one month by boat – and that was one way. For a response to come back took another month. Including the time to make a decision and decide upon a response, added to the time it took to sail to the colonies, it took about 3 months round trip to receive and respond to news.If the Colonists responded, it was another 2-3 months of time for the loop.Communication took way too long.
