The Great Depression

 The period from 1929 to 1941, when America's economy was not working. At its worst, approximately 1 out of 4 Americans were out of work. Many people would say that 1 out of 3 Americans were out of work since married women who lost jobs were not considered unemployed. Many banks failed and many farmers lost their farms.
